Re: Big Lip

Weird I just saw this on a car show tonight someone calling it a big lip. We just called em deep dish back in the day up here in the PNW. I know different parts of the country use different slang though.

Re: Big Lip

Oh ok, I didn't know what you all were saying. Now I see people have started to mistakenly use big lip in place of deep dish. Sure makes me feel dumb saying big lips. I guess in time wheels went to being spaced from behind with flat faces, and now back to having a dish, the proper terminology was lost. Does this only pertain to the polished huge diameter modern wheels with rubber band tires (thin lips) or am I supposed to start calling the deep dish 8" steelies on my K2500 big lips? I still call them deep dish. A lip is an edge.

It's a new spin on the description of a long-time performed mod.

There's no mistake in what they're calling it (it's intentional). It's just not what you would call it or what we grew up with. So.... similar to forced induction vs. blower vs. super-charger. A 'deep dish' on an 8" wheel is miniscule vs larger diameter wheels that have a 'big lip'. On those 'big lip' wheels, the lip is close to the entire width of your mentioned 8" deep-dish version.
