is that the posi unit or the whole rearend forgive the dumb question but I don't know what they cost used

That's cheaper than buying a Posi unit, and having it set up for you. This way all you have to do is bleed the brakes and go. A new Posi will run oyu $250-375 depending on where you get it. Then about $200 to set it up. You can try it yourself, but I would suggest against it. Unless you have all the right tools, and knowledge, you can really mess up your gears and then you are back to paying someone to do it.

What is the gear ratio on it, if it is a 3:73 I must have done something right yesterday!

it will most likely be a 3.08 or 3.73. The only way to find out is to open it up. Jock will probably do that for you. He is a great guy to deal with. It will be stamped on the ring gear in a xx:xx format. Then just divide it and you get your ratio.
