Been bugging a buddy of mine about his grandfather's old farm truck for years and finally managed to save it! Plans for this one are not nearly as extravagant as my short wide. Really just want to get her running and use her as a solid work/shop truck. My goal is to get it running/driving for under $1000 then enjoy!

Got it into temporary storage and verified that the engine actually still spins over by hand, which is huge! Picked up a donor chassis to upgrade the brakes to disks, and also possibly swap over the rear end to have greater ease of finding replacement parts if need be. Not to mention a much more driving friendly gear ratio. I also picked up a carb for it off of a 63 C10 that also had a 250. Carb needs rebuilt, so that may be a winter project. Any suggestions on the best rebuild kits for these mono jet carbs?

Looks to be a good truck to start with. I love the long steps after seeing them more in person leading up to me buying a 8ft stepside, it seem's like growing up all I would see were long bed fleetside and short bed steps.

Can finally start updating this thread! After sitting for a year or so at the in laws farm, we finally got the free time to go collect this beast and bring her home. From there it was immediate cleaning of all the field debris still in the truck. Followed by a quick assessment of just what all it really needed to be driving again.

Found the receipt from the last time this old girl was registered and on the road. Also started putting many of my spare parts to good use. Swapped in a cluster that I had floating around, and also used a spare harness that was burnt up in another section to repair the rodent damage the truck had suffered while sitting in a field for the past 30 some odd years.

Had a carb that I snagged shortly after initially buying the truck that I popped on the ensure it was right. Had to build a small portion of throttle linkage, as the original was missing. I did find the original air cleaner laying down in the engine bay, so mocked it up to see how it looked. Also snagged a new under hood harness from Classic Parts, as the original was more than somewhat crispy and beyond salvation. The original master cylinder was frozen solid, so I pulled it and swapped it for a Corvette manual dual master. Hopefully this works well with the disk brake swap I plan on doing.

Got some more progress made on the truck. Once the wiring was all roughed in I hooked up a battery and did some functions testing. Everything appears to be working, and there was no smoke, so that's a good sign. A previous owner had an oil pressure gauge that they just cut out and left the line behind the dash. Found a cool vintage gauge set on marketplace for a reasonable price, so I went ahead and swapped that in. After an oil change and being cranked over, truck does build oil pressure. I did however find that I was not getting any spark. Also discovered that #3 is low on compression, I assume due to sticky rings.
