66 suburban 5.3 swap

I'm building a 66 suburban trying to put the 5.3 out of an 04 Chevy truck into it. I have the motor mounts figured out and I'm gathering up other parts for the swap. My question is and I know it has probably been asked a hundred times will the truck exhaust manifolds fit without doing anything to the frame or do I need to try and find Camaro manifolds or headers? I will only be lowering truck about 2-3 inches so ground clearance isn't an issue.

From what i have read you can not use the factory truck manifolds without cutting/heating bending the frame. 1998-200? 2010 up camaro or trail blazer manifolds fit most swaps. Hooker makes swap manifolds that fit

Tbss manifolds work best for our trucks if you want sto stay factory lsx.

A friend built a 66 Suburban with the 5.3 and he used the Trailblazer SS manifolds.

i have personally used tbss manifolds and the hooker manifolds. Both worked out very well.

Has anyone used the shorty hooker headers?

Started the install of the 5.3 into the 66 looks like the ac compressor is going to be a tight fit in the lower position . Will it clear or is there another route to take looking for some ideas thanks

best to use the high mount.

I used Docs Blocks and trimmed the frame rail a tad. I don't know if Docs Blocks are used any longer.

actually here they are.

If you decide the go high with the ac compressor Holley has a good solution. This bracket is for a Sanden compressor.

Re: 66 suburban 5.3 swap

Thanks for all the replies I found a set of 2010 Camaro exhaust manifolds with the cats still on them locally. Tried them on and only had a small amount of clearance problem on motor mount nothing big. Decided to try and keep the ac compressor on the bottom for now and had to make a small notch on the frame. Tomorrow night maybe I can make the trans mount and get it all bolted in.
