Shocks
Hello,
I lowered my 1969 burb 2 1/2 spindles and 4 inch springs. Trying to figure out shocks for the front. I would like to install KYB but not sure which one to get to fit properly. If anyone can tell me what they are using maybe I can cross reference and get the correct size. Any help greatly appreciated |

OR.... 2.5" spindles on the front & 4" springs on the rear? |
Re: Shocks
If you have drop springs and drop spindles up front you can use stock fitment shocks and just move the shock mount farther up to regain full travel. I did this on a '66 with stock fitment Gas-A-Just shocks and it worked great. Rode as good as dad's completely stock '66, actually better since it had sway bars and a lower center of gravity to minimize excessive body roll and pitch. It did have 15" wheels with 215/75 tires, so maybe the tall sidewalls kept the shocks from feeling too stiff like Scoti describes.
I modified a set of Currie axle mounts and bolted them to the frame rail. https://i.imgur.com/uc1Fd8bh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/utJW46Gh.jpg |
