I have been modifying the original sensors to fit the later model Vortec heads but not for LS family engines.

The standard sensor has 1/2"-NPT threads, the Vortec heads are 3/8"-NPT
the LS is 12mm

There isn't enough material to modify the original sensor to 12mm (.472")
here's a cut-away of an original sensor, the small end is .550" diameter.
