Nice looking piece but I would think it needs a little more support to keep the frame rails from flexing. Kinda like the factory unit which bolts top and bottom of the frame rails.

I agree.

I would prefer the X-member be one solid piece of round tubing and I would not retain the factory ends. The ends looked too "tacked on". A one peice mandrel bent piece would be sweet.

Those aren't the factory ends they are actually laser cut for one of our other trans cross members. Unfortunately the pictures don't really do it justice

Any particular reason it's not a solid piece of tubing (my guess possibly it was that way just for R&D)

excuse me if im wrong, but wouldnt the u-joint between the yoke and the driveshaft take up most of the angle between the tranny and rear end?

When he z'ed the frame it moved the motor mounts and motor up 2".It would be a big angle if You used the stock trans mount.Plus it tucks it up out of the way.

how far below the frame did the original auto x-members hang? Im wondering, as i plan to z my frame in the next week or two, and i currently have an ECE auto tranny crossmember which is totally out of the way, doesnt hang down at all. THanks.

Just incase you don't know. You tranny and the diffirential should be within 3 degrees of eachother.

I wouldnt worry as much about the trans output shaft angle as I would with the pinion angle. Take a look at any lifted 4X4 out there, they are WAY off. Heres the x-member I did for mine but Ive now changed it a little(raised 1 1/2")...corn

That does not make it right.... How often does a lifted 4x4 see speeds of 100 km + ? Not very often and I am sure it's not a smooth ride . Incorrect pinion angle will lead to vibirations and premature u-joint wear. I am sure that [/B]grnddwn[B] is well aware of that though.

Yeah this isn't our first trip the the store. You will find with bagged trucks that there are alot of variables with driveline angle that have to be compensated for.

i have the ECE auto tranny crossmember, and i was wondering if i just flipped it over would that work for a 4" z, or if i sunk it into the crossmember a little that should work right?
