throttle linkage

I took some pictures with my old Minolta camera ( I need one of those digital HP315 like longhornmail has) of my throttle linkage. My truck used to have some real sloppy throttle linkage till I got the Longacre linkage. I did not want to go the cable route. This linkage is set uo to work on Holleys and Demon carbs, I am not sure if they work on the Edelbrock because I never had one. They have helm type ends and my linkage is smooth as silk.
Heres the link if anyone wants to check them out.

I have thought about doing this myself. If you get the right size bolts, it should work with the AFB carbs.
This is also an awsome upgrade/repair to the old clutch rods.

Thanks Tim. I know what you mean, it took me forever to find that linkage. My old linkage was so stiff and sloppy. This linkage is so smooth I accidently burned rubber the first time I drove it after putting it on LOL. I was so used to having to press the peddle so hard.

It costs $29 dollars and worth every dime. You will have to have a 1/4 x 28 tap also because you have to cut the rod down to length. It comes with easy instructions. One end is tapped already so don't cut that end off. The rod is long enough to make 2 of them.

You can make your own too.

Buy yourself some 1/4"-20 All-Thread......2 stainless steel 1/4"-20 nuts.....some 1/4" I.D. Stainless Steel tubing...and two "female-end" 1/4" stainless steel heim joints (-also known as Spherical Rod Ends).

Here goes......1st thread one of the 1/4" nuts onto the all-thread.....then thread one of the heim joints onto the all-thread...snug the 1/4" nut up against the heim joint (like a "jam" nut)...then measure the length you neeed (center of heim joint to center of heim joint-take into consideration your heim joint length here....very important), cut your all-thread.....place the other 1/4" nut on the all thread...then thread the other heim joint on....make any adjustments needed now (shorten the all-thread.....or move the jam nut back and then move the heim joint back) once you have your linkage just right, measure the distance between the two jam nuts and then cut a peice of your stainless steel tubing to this measured length. De-bur the ends of the tubing and then get out the Mother's, Semi-Chrome, or whatever polish you wish to use and hand buff the tubing to a mirror shine. Take one end loose (heim joint and jam nut) and put tubing on the all-thread...reinstall jam nut and heim joint.

You now have some of the trick-est and smoothest looking linkage any of your freinds have ever see........and you can say "Hey, I made that myself!"

Thats how we used to make all of our brake and throttle linkages for the race karts.....way back when the "other" guys were still using small diameter steel cable.

P.S. I used 1/4"-20 hardware because 1/4"-28 All-Thread is harder to find.....although the finer thread stuff will give you finer adjustment.

The gas peddle is just alot smoother because instead of the metal linkage pins going to the peddle linkage and carb linkage the helm ends are bolted tight to the linkage of the peddle and carb. So when you press the peddle the linkage swivels on the helm ends instead of on pins.
