Does your LWB fit in your garage??

If you have one. My wife and I are building a new house and I am a little concerned about my 68 fitting in the garage. Surely it will right? I mean I know it will once I start to tear it down but I want to do some landscaping and build a shed at the new house before I tear down a perfectly good running truck. I guess I really just need to go and measure once they pour the foundation.

I should think so. Some garages are bigger than others, but I've never seen one a LWB won't fit in. In fact, the '92 (XCab LWB) even fits the smaller ones i've been in (barely!).

That's what I was thinking. I mean I have seen those ext cabs in there. I'm just freaking out I guess. It would be an "Eye Sore" to other in the neighborhood I'm sure, if it sat in the driveway.

Better to think of it now, though. Would be a bummer (understatement) to build a house and not be able to fit your project in the garage!

As for being an eyesore, that all depends on what neighborhood you're in! hehe

If you have the time and money build your garage at least 26 feet deep and each stall 12 feet wide so you have some working room. And have your trusses engineered so you can store parts up in the attic above the garage.

Mine fits and thats with the washer & dryer in front of it and room to load the dryer. If the washer and dryer were not there I would say that I have maybe 3 or 4 feet of room in the back if I pulled it all the way to the wall.

About as much chance of fitting my truck in my garage as I have of winning the 100 metres at the next olympics! But then American truck into standard size British garage just doesn't go. Even if I manged to just squeeze her in I would have to climb out the rear slider... perhaps that's what they're really for!

My garage is 24' deep and my truck fits with a few feet to spare.
26' on the depth would be the minimum that I would go with though.........I didn't have enough room to go that big

When I had my house built I had the garage made 24X24 with two 10' wide doors in the front. There is plenty of room. I have a couple of Snap-On boxes in front of my LWB an if I push the truck to the door there is at least 3' between the truck and the tool boxes.

My present garage is 24x20, with my shop attached another 10x24, overall 24x30. My longhorn fits just fine, but it's only been in there one night. Getting bids now for my new garage, it'll be 28 x 48 with two overhead doors. then the old one becomes my shop! Can't wait! But wife says she gets a pool, too.

Same here. I have a Snap On box I have to consider aswell. Can you open the draws with the truck inside? I figured I was going to have to put that in front of the wife's car.

EDIT: I jusr re-read, 3 inches to spare.

I can open the draws and still pas between them and the truck. And im no shrimp. 6' 230lbs. I can use a floor jack to jack the front of the truck up and the handle just misses the boxes

Cool

My winter storage garage is a tight fit!

I have to air down the tires to get the lights on top of the cab to slide under, and turn in the side mirrors to make her fit. Not to mention lengthwise is tight also. This is a stock truck too!

Too...much..stuff

Get my truck in the garage?
Sure could.
As long as I remove the F-350 Crew Cab Super Duty, the F-150 lightning, the '76 GMC Jimmy and the '84 Monte Carlo SS it fits with no problem.

I need a bigger garage...

I work on alot of newer houses and the biggest thing i see is to small of garages on them.I would make sure that you have at least a 26'er, and another thing is you will want a taller door then 7'.Never know when you might move up to a lifted 4x4.....lol

My attached garage is the same depth as my house...33' (x24)which makes sense since I see a lot of houses with a "small" room behind the garage that is supposed to pass as a family room. Why not make the entire end a garage?! That way you have tons of room for toolboxes, hoists, engine stands, benches AND room to pull the engine out if needed. Just my opinion.

Thumbs up

I use a wooden shed/garage for winter storage, it's about 18'x11' and the truck fits barely end to end. There is no room to spare! Luckly the garage doors swing out like barn doors. A 26 footer would be nice, maybe my next house!
