Carburetor Choice & Why ????
I am changing to a Clifford Intake.
Here's the Question... If you were going to update the carburetor on a 292ci 6 cylinder which way is the best overall way to go. Keeping in mind that this is not a racing truck but for just general use and best possible mileage. Would you go with a 350cfm 2 bbl carburetor or one of the small 390cfm 4 bbl carbs? Or is there a better choice and why? My thoughts are if I go with the 390cfm 4 bbl it would get better mileage just cruising but if I needed the extra "umph" the secondarys would provide it. I am sure there are many of you out there that have done these changes. Please give me your thoughts. Thanks, Dan

Re: Carburetor Choice & Why ????
The Clifford is a high RPM horsepower manifold, the offy is a lower speed torque manifold. Make sure you keep some sort of manifold heat whether it's from the exhaust or water heat unless all your doing is racing. The 390 4 bbl is what most people use,as you say the small primaries keep up the torque and mpg.You just have to stay out of the secondaries, easier said than done. Also try inliners international for more tips .
