Old School Power Steering with Disc Brakes
Has anyone with the old style hydraulic ram power steering setup upgraded to disc brakes? Just wondering if you ran into any snags. The only thing I can think of that may be a problem is the outer tie rods.

Re: Old School Power Steering with Disc Brakes
I believe the 65 and 66 has the same outer tie rod end as a 67. You need to use its outer tie rod for the disc spindle used which will be a 11/16" RH thread. There is enough metal to re-cut 5/8" LH threads. I have done 3 sets. Otherwise I agree it should work ---ball joints of course have to be changed.

Re: Old School Power Steering with Disc Brakes
Ok--if you are willing---take the 11/16 outer ends and just grind the threads off untill you just still see the thread pattern, Try to keep them round. Slightly bevel the end to start a 5/8 LH tap --oil while cutting. If it cuts hard too hard you probably did not take off enough of the 11/16 thread...

Re: Old School Power Steering with Disc Brakes
Thanks for the pics and the description of the process. I'll get the parts and get going on it, time to buy a backwards 5/8" die!
