Post Cylinder Head - Porting - Is it worth the $$$$$

I'm considering having my cylinder heads ported and polished. I don't know if it will be money well spent. Have a freshly rebuilt 350 with aluminum intake and 4BBL, headers, 487X heads and 11.00-1 domed pistons. Due to the great Ohio weather I have not had a chance to get it to the strip to see what the new numbers are. Whata you think?

i also want to know if it is worth it. i have read that the engine is a big air pump and you will get better performance if you preform head work because the motor can breathe better. but what would the gain be if you port and polish the heads, more hp, torque? it would help if anyone could correct me or add to this. thanks

The big question is what kind of cam you running, and what do you use the truck for?
light clean up can help all around, but hoggin out the heads will hurt driveablilty.

It's not a daily driver. Just finished a restoration on the truck and would like to get some better numbers at the strip. Right now the cam is a hydrolic .214-.214 duration with .443 lift.

u really arent gonna benefit that much from head work on that motor without more cam.for a performance cam that is very small.ur barely moving the valves open

if anything, you'd kill the intake charge velosity. The air /fuel mixture wouldn't be moving very fast.

For anything street,or street /strip,the best for the money would be a good bowl clean up,3 angle. A little more cam will help also,but no point in spending for a full port & polish.......69 longhorn.
