Pinion angle question
Just got the c notch kit, and plan to flip my rear axle, on a 71 GMC SWB. This truck has had a shortened driveline for the 700 r4 in it. My question is: Will I need to shim the rear to correct any difference in pinion angle after lowering? Does it make a difference being a SWB?
What have you guys done? Thanks in advance!!!

Chances are that you will need to adjust the pinion angle. If you go to a Lowe's lumber store, you can pick up an inexpensive magnet base angle finder. You can check the pinion angle before & after, or check the trans ......if its 4 degrees down, set thhe pinion 4 degrees up. The trans tailshaft, & pinion just need to be parallell with each other. if you need to adjust, you should be able to get shims at a local spring shop. good luck ......AL
