Front End Suspension Rebuild Kit
Over here from the 60-66 forum, swapped in a 86' front end in my 62' to replace the factory torsion bar setup.
need to rebuild the front and was wondering who you can recommend for complete kits. Thanks

I've used the kits from PST before and had very good luck with them. Otherwise just piece it out from your local auto parts store.

As LSC71 said, PST has a good reputation.
But, when I rebuilt my front end, I wanted to maintain the stock rubber bushings. I purchased the control arm bushings and the center link from a dealership (AC/Delco parts) and the remaining parts from the local auto parts store (Perfect Circle). BTW, Federal Moog is a good manuafacture of suspension parts. Here's a past thread on rebuilding the front suspension, http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=189574. I have a couple of procedures on replacing the upper and lower ball joints in detail, if interested.

Go with poly-graphite from PST. Do not use straight urethane bushings unless you enjoy squeaking noises...

I have a 65 how hard is it to swap the front end from a 77' i know it looks like a bolt in swap but just checking before i tear it down.Thanks

i have a 64 with a 77 front suspension in it. The previous owner did it but told me the crossmember was bolt in, u just have to elongate 2 holes. other than that he said it was a piece of cake...take it with a grain of salt though as I have no firsthand experience with the mod.
Check out chevytalk.com as the 60-66 forum over there is very active and this topic has been beat to death over there 100000000+ times and those guys will be able to give you all the details for sure... Nate |
