lowering the rear
This summer I was gonign to convert my 3/4 ton to a half by using a 81 front suspension and a different rear end(not sure what yet). It has leaf springs and a dana 60 rear end. If I flipped the axle using a 12 bolt or 9 in. how much would I lower the back of my truck?

Figure 1/2 the diameter of the 3" axle tube(1 1/2")+ the spring perch (1/2")= 2", double that= 4 " + the thickness of the leaf stack.....my guess is 7-7 1/2" on a 3/4 ton truck. I did a flip on my longhorn,tossed the bottom 3 leafs, & ended up moving the spring hangers down on the frame, to lift it back up a tad. I figure right @ 5 1/2" drop on the rear of my truck. best of luck,

I was only looking for about 4 in. so I htought I might just mount the front shakle lower on the frame rail. I heard one of the guys in class syaing to day that if you lower the fornt of the spring and make a neg. slope this will set the rear end down harder when accelerating off the line.
