Value of a parts truck??

I recently found a 60 or 61 Chevrolet C10 shortstep truck for parts. The guy says it's worth $200 at scrap prices and won't budge---I personally think it's a little high. Basically, I need a good cab for my 62. The cab on the parts truck is much better than mine. It also has a decent core support, stepside fenders, rear end, and miscellaneous other parts. If the guy won't budge, is a decent cab worth that price? No engine or tranny.

Re: Value of a parts truck??

Can you find something in beter shape for less? If not then No it is not to much. What would you consider a fair price? Maybe if he is going to scrap it you can trade your old cab ( Im assuming you dont want to keep it) and some cash for the cab only.
How are the doors, the hood,or front fenders? Are ther any interior parts such as the glove box, radio or radio delete, instrument cluster, steering column and wheel? All can be pulled and sold.
Besides the rear end what about the front suspension, can you use any of it ?
What I am getting at is when you add it up 200.00 isnt all that bad.
You can sell the extra parts off, or keep them "just in case"

Re: Value of a parts truck??

thats a good deal, i bought my first truck which is now my parts truck(grrrr) for $1200 which was a f***** rip off but i dident know that then. that and he said it ran like it was new, but he couldent start it cause the battery was dead. and it did run like it was new while it was just sitting there idling, but barley had the power to pull itself. anyways i know i talk too much but id go for it!!!

Re: Value of a parts truck??

Here's what's good:

---the cab: there are a couple of pin holes on the top of the drip. Otherwise very solid looking to me. Mine is rusted out all around the top of the windshield. Parts cab is not.
---interior: good dash, seat, handles, glove box, steering wheeel/column
---exterior: bed sides and stepside bed fenders are good.
---rear end and full suspension
---engine bay: radiator core support, inner front fenderwell stuff

The following is not saveable: hood, front fenders, glass, and tailgate.

After I slept on it last night, I believe the cab is probably worth $200 to me. At least it would be a step in the right direction.
