Post Carb. help needed.

I have a 350 with a L-79 cam, 9.5 comp headers, with a performer rpm intake. Edelbrock recommends a 1407(750cfm). Is that too much carb for this combination???? Any help would be great.Or should I go with the 1406(600cfm)???

Valve size? If you're running 202's, you should be OK.

1.94's. the price diff on the 2 is 10 bucks so thats no difference to me. I just want the engine to perform well

the 1406 has an electric choke...the 1407 doesnt..i think...I myself would of gone for the 750...but trust me, I always think bigger is better, and that aint usally the truth.

I think the same way but i want to be sure I buy the right carb for my engine 750 or 600 cfm??????

You didn't say what gear you are running,that will make a difference. The smaller carb should give more bottom end,the bigger carb more top end. If you are runnin 4.11's or bigger I would go with the bigger carb. The edelbrock really won't over carb the motor because it is an air valve secondary design. It will only open as much as the motor will take. But the smaller carb will give you a little atvantage off the line if you don't have enough gear.

Dean, I have run the 1405 (600 cfm) and 1407 (750 cfm) carburetors on my ZZ4 crate engine with the AirGap RPM manifold and HOT cam. I tested the carbs before and after installation of AFR 195 heads. I also ran both carbs with the electric choke option. The only significant advantage of the larger carb (that I noticed) was slightly more power above 6000 rpm; conversely, a disadvantage of the larger carb was a distinct and irritating lag at lower rpms. A great deal of Edelbrock-inspired tuning efforts failed to completely remove this symptom. IMHO, try the smaller carb first - fuel metering is superior for this cid range.

p.s., Edelbrock did recommend the 750 for my application, but I'm still running the 600, with better results.
