Post OPTION QUESTIONS??

FROM GLOVE BOX SHEET:
1971 3/4 2wd...
1) G86-NO SPIN REAR AXLE
2) M20-4spd TRANS
DOES THAT MEAN JUST A LIMITED-SLIP AND A REGULAR GRANNY LOW 4spd?

A no spin is not a limited slip, but is similar in a broad sense. A no spin allows no spin, whereas a limited slip allows some slip.
The tranny is a granny.

G86 No-Spin is basically a detroit locker. Hard to explain, but the slower wheel gets the power, i.e., in a turn, the inside wheel drives the pickup, and the outside coasts, but if the inside slipped (ice or something), then the locker would put power to the outside. The way I understand detroit lockers in my head is like you have two ratchets hooked to the axles. The ratchets spin at the same time, but you could spin the axle faster than the ratchet (as the outside wheel in a turn would do), and it would click the gears in the ratchet and spin faster. The inside wheel wouldn't be spinning faster than the ratchet, so the ratchet would drive it.

Probably doesn't make sense, but it works for me.

The M20 transmission is the CH465 Chevy 4-speed with granny low (I'm pretty sure).

M20 is SM420 if the truck is a 67 or older, otherwise is the Ch465.
