Question Replacement carb?

Looking for a good replacement carb to put on my 350. I was thinking about holley 650?
What does everybody think about it?

Well from what i know and what i've heard Holley's are always in need of adjustment, so if you are good with them then go for it. Otherwise i'd say go for an edelbrock, i run a 750manual on my BB and i've had NO problems with it at all. Just bolted on and adjusted idle is all. If you're good with a holley a 650 should be more than ample for a 350, unless it's a really stout motor. Good luck.

Im running a 650 spreed-bore Holley with elect choke on my 402. Not enough carb for the BB but worked great out of the box.I needed a spacer under the carb because the lever for the TV cable would hit the intake. Funny thing but the choke only works with air filter off. Plan on geting a biger Q-Jet. More money but there the best.

I gave away a Holley because I had to fool with every time I drove the car. I replaced it with a Carter and never had another problem right out of the box. I now have Carters on my 66 Chevelle, 71 402, and 350 in the Studebaker. All are fine, right out of the box.

All carbs are good if you know how they want to be treated. Q-jets are one of the best carbs for a chevy but they get a bad rap. The main thing with them is they are almost impossible to rebuild if they have ever been on a motor that was over heated badly. They are also the most senitive to float ajustment. Holeys also get a bad rap because people always buy the cheap universal ones. If you buy a better one that is turned for your car,they will also run right out of the box for a good long time. They are also the simpleist to tune for a really radical motor,because more radical parts are avalible for them. Edelbrocks are the best if you are a non carb type person.They are by far the simpleist to rebuild just because of their design. Anyone will make your motor scoot if matched to the applacation.

I would say go with a edelbrock carb if you just want to put it on and go.

They seem to have very good part throttle responce because of their design.

I had a Edelbrock 1407 (manual choke 750 cfm) that worked very well on a old 383 I had.

I ended up selling the motor and the guy went with a holley he had already.

If you are looking for a 1407 let me know as I have one in mint shape for $150.00 .
