Post POLL (leaky cabs)

I just finished going around my windshield with silicone to hopfully stop the leaks there so I don't get soaked driving down the interstate! LOL now all I need to do is those 2 spots by the kick panels and I will be leak free! (woo hoo)
So how many other people have leaky cabs? And where are your leak (leaks) coming from?

Mine leaks aroung the driverside windshield rubber and the drivers door window frame at the top. The door because someone cut the frame off once and welded it back on. Must of been making blazer doors or something. Front window leaks in hard rain or at highway speed.

The guy that had my truck before me had siliconed the whole truck, I mean every piece of weather striping, even the vent windows. Still leaked like a sive. Fixed the drip rail, no more leaks.

Im in the process of trying to seal my cab up now. F & R glass both seep water . Im going to have shop urethane weatherstrip to glass then urethane weatherstrip to body--been told its a necessity to get these trucks to seal up.

I think I'm in the same boat as Tom. I cannot identify the leak but I'm pretty sure it's the drip rail. Next project I guess...

My drip rail is also really bad! when I get the chance and it's NOT raining what I plan on doing is scraping old stuff out, derust, then weld the drip rail shut, prime and paint, then put on new sealent!

Blazer leaks pretty bad even after new windshield has been put in. Sometimes I get a nice stream that goes down the inside of the glass too. The top really needs new weather stripping though.

Mine also had EVERYTHING siliconed. I mean this guy should have had stock in silicone, he would have made a fortune. I havn't progressed to the point where I can put the glass back in much less take it outside in the rain but I do know that the drip rail was shot and all the silicone that was in it actually held the water in and caused more leaks.

My truck would leak overnight, on the floor near the kickpanel, anytime it rained.

Last weekend I had the cowl off, and resealed the corners under the cowl. HMMM No more leaks so far. Might be worth checking out, for you leakers.

I have a leak coming down the passenger side which I think is coming from the gap in the windshield molding.

I have a '70 Buick with rusty rear window frame and I used silicone to seal it. That didn't work so I took it to a glass shop and was told silicone wasn't good for this stuff as it can absorb moisture. Urethane would be better suited. This is coming from the top of my head from roughly 6 years ago so I could have mixed things up in my mind.

I must have gotten lucky, because my 72 doesn't leak anywhere. The only time I ever get wet is if i drive it right after it rains and i have the window rolled down. The previous owner filled the drip rail with silicone, so all the water sitts up top until i turm a corner, then it runs down the door rail and onto my arm. And here I live in the great white north where the only seasons we have are winter and that one day known as summer. It's not that bad, but we have about 8 months of the white stuff.

Mine never leaked untill I had it replaced, Go figure, The shop who did it (I won't mention names unless I'm asked) did a real bad job, even tryed fixin it 4 or 5 times and replaced it again with no luck. I finaily had Glass Works in Antiock Ca put in a new one and we are back to H2O free. Never did get my $ back for the 1st one, Live and learn

The only leak I had was due to dry rotted sealer in the rain gutters. I scraped the old cracked sealer out and re-sealed and dry as can be.

new69owner you need to open the drains in the bottom of your doors. Two in each door located in the front and back. What you are looking for is a small slot. My 69 short fleet and 68 short fleet both do not leak any at all no mater how hard it rains.
