I would come by but I have Dave's wedding. I wish I could go. There is going to be a long wait til next spring til you can show the truck again. It will give you plenty of time to save up for your new engine parts

I want rear disks also and 3:73 gearing or so... Ive got a 700r4 tranny and will be running 20's front and rear with a TCI mustang II crossmember, controls arms, spindles etc.

So basically I was curious of width of your rear axle and where your measurment is from and what backspacing did you go with for your wheels?? What axle would you recommend that comes with the 5x4.75 lug pattern with discs and correct width? I noticed you ran adapters/spacers... did you NEED spacers or just get them because of the wheel order mistake?

Thanks for the help!

Johnny
First of all let me say welcome!
Only the S-10 blazers from 1998 to 2003 had rear disk brakes. None of the S-10 trucks had them. There are two sizes from the Blazers, the first is 58 inches wide and that one comes from the 2 wheel drive. The second is 60 inches wide and it was on the 4 wheel drive. There is draw backs to both of them, but they can be worked through. On the 58 inch, the caliper comes slightly in contact with the rear spings in the stock location. It can be corrected by using a flip kit and using 2 inch lowering blocks with a C-notch or use a four link in the rear. The 60 inch also has problem. The calipers will hit the bed sides and have to be notched to clear the caliper. This is what entourageguy had to with his and he also used a 4 link. I used the spacer so I could use the 2 wheel drive rear end and I could get a 10inch wheel with a deep dish.

Since there I have a lot of detail here I will post this on my build thread to share with everyone else.

With the 60" the calipers are mounted up higher than the 58". I've c notched the my frame and have it low.The calipers hit the box just before the axle hits the bumpers in the c notch. I also used 2.5" spacers with the 15"x7" gm rally wheels. 2" would be better.. I'm going to do a small tub over the winter so I can get the rear right down.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Okay, so the car show season is over for the year and winter is almost here. It's time to start my winter project. I broke down and bought the intake, carbs & heads I was thinking about buying. My son and I will start installing them this weekend. Here's a few pics.

Hey Cal

I looked and saw you had posted on your forum and thought " what the heck is this guy going to do now"? Nice choice on the engine add ons.
I've got my truck in the garage at home as it never made it to my usual storage spot before the snow and salt hit the ground.
I'm already cruising the sites on the net wondering what to do for next year.

Brian ...

ps unfortuntly I've also got it up for sale.

Cal

Time to start thinking of the family. My oldest daughter has autism and is in high school. Moneys tight and she has to continue her education and college/university is around the corner. With two other kid in high school I think I need a few $$ in the bank. We'll see what happens.

Re: 58 GMC Project

I understand, the family should always come first. Cars & trucks can be replaced, but family can't. Although sometimes it feels kind of like your ride is a part of your extended family. Even though you sell your truck and I'm sure everyone would agree, your still apart of our truck family here! Good luck on your auction, I hope you get top dollar for your truck.

Ever find that rocker washer? Hope it did not fall into the black hole! I cant wait to finish the engine. We should be able to put it back together in the same amount of time it took to strip it down.

I don't know if it's in the"black hole". I sure hope it not or I'm screwed.
It will take more time to put back then it did to tear down since were going to have to tork everything back down and adjust the valve's.
