New exhaust! (PICS NOW) - edit

Hey guys, got me a new exhaust with most of my Christmas cash. This also allowed me to put my receiver hitch on, LOVE that thing.

I ended up getting an H-pipe, welded Magnaflow turbos, and 3.5" rolled edge stainless tips. Pipe is 2.5" all the way back from the headers. I like the way it sounds a lot though I may change my tips, they're 18" long and they make the rear look a little "fat". I want the 3" ones that are 22" long. I like the sound of my Magnaflows a lot. Nice and subdued in the cab and at cruise with a nice deep rumble but they really sound off at WOT. Much cleaner sounding than the old glass packs too.

I'll post pics tonight and hopefully some sound/video this weekend. Still need to borrow some webspace to post my last video. It's 3MB and shows me burning a little rubber and barking 2nd. It also shows a nice side shot of the truck for those who wanted to see the wheels. If you'd like me to email it, I can.

yeah dave, your vid actually helped me make up my mind.

Someone will ask the cost so here it is:
Magnaflow XLTurbos $80 each installed + tax
New tailpipes $90 + tax installed
Magnaflow Stainless Tips $100 + tax
They threw in the H with the tips
Came out to $378 after tax
Sure makes it nice though.

Brad's Muffler out in Alvin for you local guys, they really did a good job.

I ran a poll a couple of weeks ago about which mufflers to use, and magnaflow didnt win.
But I liked the sound files that were posted and went with them. I too went with the H-pipe
setup with 2.5" all the way out the back with the 3" tips.
The sound is awesome!!! The best $300 I ever spent!!(next to the $200 I spent on golf lessons of course....)

Real nice at full throttle, and I can still hear my stereo, although cranked a little louder!!

looks just like mine! minus the xover. im happy as can be with this set up. i think its what most people are looking for. that is the people who hate flowmaster and like glass packs. great sound, not too loud, but will roar if you punch it. =)

jmil1974 ,
That hitch looks like it is NOT a universal fit hitch. Could you post the brand, model, where you got it, etc.?
Thanks

Thanks for the compliments, guys! I think it sounds and looks pretty classy. When you're married, anything to make the old truck more palatable is a bonus!

hehe, black67devil

The hitch is a Sure Pull. I'll check tonight and see if I can find a model number or something. I got it used from Steve here in Houston (69_c10_on_20s or something). It fit the frame perfectly but I had to drill 4 of the 6 holes in the frame. It DOES fit just like it's supposed to now, though. It's really stout too. Funny though, my bumper is rated at 800/8000 lbs and the hitch is only 600/6000. This seems weird to me as the hitch looks MUCH stouter than the bumper as far as towing goes. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

The brackets came with the bumper. I bought it at a Truck Accessory place in Waco in 1996. I'll see if I can find a brand, model, etc.

I love the balance pipe, it quieted things down a touch and got rid of the popping. It sounds a lot like glasspacks at WOT (minus the popping on accel and decel) and almost stock at idle. Cruise is decent too. There's one small spot in the RPM range that gets some resonance but I think it's my carb acting up as much as anything.

I'll post some video of this versus glasspacks as soon as I get some webspace and get rid of this damn miss. But that's a whole other post!

Yep, MAGNAFLOWS kick ass. I have been trying to convert the masses for the past yaer now. They flow better, less cab noise and WOT is just a huge roar. I love em.
