Question Where to begin?

I just bought a 79 Sileverado short wide. Mechanically it seems fine and the engine, a 350, was rebuilt a couple years back. It has basically been sitting in a backyard for the last two years. Again, mechanically it seems good but it has the typical Chevy rust along doors, runners, wheel wells and underneath. I am wanting to put some work into this truck and rehab it and maybe trick it out a little bit while maintaining its ability to work for me. Where do I begin with a project like this? What resources are there? I have looked across the internet but seem to come across personal web pages and some retail places that sell parts that have to have things shipped to you by freight. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
