The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Re: 1964 Rat rod burnout

First off, heating springs is not recommended.

I have a 65 long bed that the PO ceated the springs and it rides like crap. It feels a little squirrely when I hit a bump at speed. As for how far it lowers one, I'm not sure. I haven't measured the long bed to see. My 64 had a 3"/4" static drop and I have to say that the 65 sits lower but the 64 drove/rode/handled MUCH better. As soon as I finish bagging my 64, the heated drop springs in the 65 are going to the scrapper and will be replaced with the drop springs.

IMO, if you want to lower it, wait and do it right. Either drop springs or install bags with a schrader valve. Either way is not real expensive to do, especially when you figure in the value of your @$$ versus the cost of dropping it properly.

Ultimately though, it's your truck-do what you want with it. Just weigh all of your options and decide accordingly.

BTW, that's a cool old truck you got there. Keep up the good work!
