Re: 2" Drop Trailing arms
Does this trailing arm cross member require modification to the cab floor? Is it compatible with one pc drive shaft on swb?
Please educate this newbie |

-With new cab mount bishings there is .25" between the bottom of the cab floor and top of the tube. With worn out and compressed cab mount bushings it might touch. -One piece drive-shaft will work up to a certain amount of drop. If you're going to be cutting into the bed floor by more than a couple inches, I would recommend the version with the carrier bearing mounting tab, and running a two-piece driveshaft.

Re: 2" Drop Trailing arms
The place that does my PC work cleans everything with
some kinda phosphate? (Spelling) as for the welds, Nate has them so clean that there is no lil balls as you call it. With shipping and PC they are about the same $ as CPP but why buy there's when you can have PORTERBUILT

Re: 2" Drop Trailing arms
these are what i am talking about. I am not trying to say anything bad about Nathans welding at all, as a matter fax i think hes better than a robot! This is normal stuff, i just didn't like them after PC was done> i thought i would save you from going threw it. Maybe i am just to picky. That is why i went with Porter built stuff in the first place, i am picky. Sorry if i had hurt anyones feelings, not my intent.

Re: 2" Drop Trailing arms
Yep. Nate lays down some excellent beads but there can be some stray slag that will hurt the overall quality of a nice PC job. When I did my Dropmember, a quick (& I mean real quick) once over w/a 3" 3M disc cleaned it up easily.

Re: 2" Drop Trailing arms
Hey Ray.... Stop talking about my balls!
Often times, it's inevitable to get some "welding berries" on the parts when MIG welding. As Ray mentioned, sandblasting alone doesn't always remove these. Those really picky guys (and I know there are a lot of us) may want to put forth a little more effort to remove these, as they will be more noticable with a color coat.

Re: 2" Drop Trailing arms
Sweet. I've been looking for alternatives on the PHB bushings this week. Any you recommend off the top of your head?
