Dimensions request for steering column

I'm looking for a couple of dimensions from a '69 non-tilt automatic column. If anyone has a column pulled, I'd reallllly appreciate it if you could measure the following...

1) from the base of where the wheel hub mounts to the end of the "mass shaft" (that's apparently steering column speak for the 2" diameter part under the hood that does NOT turn)

2) the rotating assembly that sticks out of the mass shaft (the part that comes out and has the splines)

I've marked up a column picture below to give you an idea of what I've put in words above...

Thanks JimKshortstep4x4 for the measurements!

Anyone else have a loose column just to confirm what JimKshortstep4x4 got?

I have a 71 column. I can't get to it for a few days. Email me if you want it measured.

Bump...

Just looking for another set or two of measurements to make sure they're spot on. I'm having a custom column made for me and I'd hate for it to be the wrong size

Yeah, but unfortunately when I say "70's Chevy" at the wrecking yards around here, I get a blank stare followed by a wave of laughter

With all the parts hounds on this board I was hoping to get 3 or 4 measurements in a heartbeat... but apparently nobody has steering columns laying around

Thanks,

Kenneth

Actually, if it's handy, I'll take those measurements. I was thinking a bit (scary though) and realized that it doesn't matter whether it's a tilt or not... I just need to know how long the thing is so the new one is the same length.

I have the column sitting in front of me, but am a little confused as to what you want messured. The first and second messurment sound the same to me. Whats up with the third pic? What do you want messured?

First messurement- 1 7/8"

Yeah, I see what you mean... OK, I'm looking for the total column length from the point where the steering wheel would bolt up to the complete other end. Then I'm looking for the length of the splined part that sticks out of the under-hood end. So the three marks in the pics are to point out where to measure to/from. The 1 7/8" sounds like the length of the splined part that sticks out. Now if you can post the overall length, I'd appreciate it very much.

Thanks,

Kenneth
