how much HP with a 2 pc DS

ok I think I found a short shart trans for my caddy swap which will allow me to keep the stock 2 piece DS..I'm worried about it holding up with the caddy, pro streets and if I hit it with NOS and the 308 gears there is going to be a ton of strain on it??? I'm thinking around 400 to 500 hp and 400lbs of torque

IMO as long as you are using the larger driveshafts with the HD carrier bearing you shouldn't have any trouble supporting that much power and even more.

Re: how much HP with a 2 pc DS

Remember the caddy motors if you are going to run a 472 or 500 make more torque than horsepower. I had a 500 caddy on spray with a TH400 short tail in my 84 Long bed with a custom 1 peice driveshaft with zero issues until I started to try and lower my 60 ft time. Than the U-joints became the week point. That was with a 300 shot of spray though and still walking it out of the hole with drag radials. That motor/trans on a 150 shot lasted forever though. I went through many many bottles of nitrous with zero regard to the drivetrain. Good luck on your build and I guess my advice is to go with a 1 peice shaft as its less parts to break.
