I'm sitting here minding my own business when I hear a knock at the door. Guy asks me "Is that your truck". I'm expecting the normal conversation of how he used to have one of those and all that... NOPE he wants to know if its for sale.

I jokingly say "Sure, anythings for sale if the price is right". He didnt laugh, and again asked if it was for sale. I sat there thinking for a while, not about the price, but if I was actually concidering selling the truck. I can't believe im about to say this.... "YEP I would take 8500,00 for it". I don't have near that in it in all honesty

, but I do have alot of my time in it which is worth money to me.

He took my number and is going to come by tomorrow to have a look at it during the daytime.

Good god, am I about to sell this thing?

I sure wouldn't mind having the money and space to start on the next project I have lined up. I don't have any real centimental value on this truck like I do my '71, thats probably why I even said I'd sell it.

Ok fire away... what do you guys think?

Piston, your '72 was sweet when i saw it in person! $8500 would be a pretty good deal on it too, for the buyer anyway. Personally, i wouldn't let my truck go for $8500, even though i would make money, because i'm so attached to it. If your '71 is your real passion, and you would rather see it completed sooner than drive the '72 around, then i would sell it.

That's a tough call, especially without sentimental value. I've had my '72 for 26 years and doubt if I could bring myself to part with it. Almost sounds like you've talked yourself into it, though. And you could use the $$ and space, and you'll still have your '71...

I wouldn't sell mine, but if someone offered me more then what it was worth, then I would think out it for sure! At the same time , if he had that kind of money, I'll probably help him find something nicer. I know I didn't help LOL!

A word of advice, don't get married to any of your cars/trucks. If you can make a nice profit, go for it. Like you said, everything is for sale for the right price.

If the guy is really interested, be extremely firm on your price. If you don't really care weather or not you sell it, so there is no point is selling it cheap. Also, if the guy is serious about it, he would probably give you that much and even if he doesn't its really no loss to you.

If you aren't attached to it sentimentally, I'd sell especially since you have another project lined up.

I bought my 70 right after high school and then ended up selling it to my dad after I got married so my wife and I could get a family car. Dad had the truck for almost 20 years. He gave it back to me about a year before he died. The truck is worth probably $500. I'm not sure I could take $8500 for it even today. It was the only thing I saved out of the vehicles my dad and I owned over the years.

Thats a hard question Piston, I almost was forced to sell mine @ 4 or 5 years ago because of financial reasons and I had the restoration about 60% complete on it. My truck has major sentimental value to it as my dad and I went on a awesome holliday togeather in it and he passed away 5 years ago. So Ive been very fortunate to be able to keep it, Regards Doug

I've given it some thought and came up with this senario... IF the guy shows up today with money in hand... He's driving home a new truck! If not, it wasnt meant to be. I wouldn't try to sell this truck, thats not why I built it but if someone flashes cash in my face? who knows lol. I'll be relieved if he doesnt show up today, I like the truck

but if he does show.. well rest will be history. 502BB here we come

i have a question for you ... whats more valued the work done or the work pending personaly i enjoy having a project to work on .. when its all done what do you do besides drive it? 8500.00 is a great starter for another project if you hav emuch less than that in the truck anyway

Well as I suspected, the guy never called. I told myself I would sell it on the spot if he showed up. If he calls or comes by on Monday... NO SALE. It gave me alot of incite on what the truck means to the family and its not time to think about selling. There's no reason for it. It's more of a complement than a possibilty
