Expanding the fleet

I got a nice 87 Chevrolet Silverado today. Got it from a real nice guy. Gotta love southern folks.. Half ton ton 2wd long bed. I've been needing a good long bed daily driver so the overdrive and fuel injection should help out. I'm hoping this weekend to go through and fix the little problems it has. Here's a few pics the previous owner sent me. I'll take more later.
So now I have 4 67-72 models and 3 squares.. I guess I need to get some group pictures..

Re: Expanding the fleet

Nice truck. Should be a great daily driver for you. My 305 tbi averages about 17 mpg mix. My old ranger got that.... and was half the size and no "cool factor" LOL

Re: Expanding the fleet

This one is supposed to be a 350 but I'll find out for sure after I go through it this weekend. So far I'm pretty happy with it. The bed is real nice. It only has one little ding inside and absolutely no rust on the whole truck. I think it has 8 inch rallys so I can go with 275/60/15 tires. Interior is nice other than a few trim pieces. Under the hood looks untouched, first truck I've ever seen around here like that, and the ac does make the cool factor go up..

Welcome to the 73-87 forum jablack. Looks like you have a super clean LWB to balance out your stable. You can share pics of your other trucks too. We aren't biased here, we love em all.

Re: Expanding the fleet

I've been riding on both the 67-72 and 73-87 sides. My first Chevy was a 1985 Chevy Silverado swb I bought in early 97. I didn't get my 67 till late 05. Here's a few pictures of my other trucks.

Re: Expanding the fleet

I'm diggin the SWB stepper but they're all cool. You'll probably like the FI on the 87 versus dealing with a carb. My 87 has given me far less grief than any carbed truck I've owned.

P.S. My yard use to have several like that till the zoning administrator paid me a visit one day.

Well I thought I would have that problem but I have the untagged, not running ones under my shed or in the garage so I'm good. The black and red one are tagged and insured, and the 87 will be shortly. I bought the red one to build and sell just need to finish it. Then the money from that truck is for the 70 short step build. Hopefully I'll make a little on each build so I can keep going. Having all these trucks was really by accident.

Re: Expanding the fleet

Well I sold both of the 70's I had, but I got to play with the 87 some more. Here's a few with the painted rallys and new tires.
I also got another car today so it seems I'll always keep a full stable..

Looks good. What size tires did you go with?

275/60/15 with 15x8 rallys. The ride is much better.

Re: Expanding the fleet

Over the weekend I replaced the heater core, front shocks, door locks, and gave it an oil change. Saturday I got the exhaust ran. Not the sound I was looking for but it still sounds good. I think this is going to be a good ol truck..

Re: Expanding the fleet

Well today we bought an 03 Suburban, great shape and the price was right. Me and the wife needed something to haul our 5 kids. I'll get some pics of it tomorrow.
