2 yr anniversary!

With 6 kids, a demanding job, and an endless list of stuff to get done I don't get many chances to log in here anymore, but did want to checkin. I'm at my 2 year anniversary of my 72 being my daily driver! Woo Hoo! It's come a long way in two years. The first rebuilt engine had rod knock and we had to start over. The second rebuild was put into service 2 years ago. At that time I went through the cooling system and fuel system. More recently, 1 year ago, I installed the new interior. ... and just a week ago the flat black paint the previous owner put on the top and below the trim line got corrected. I still have more to do, but it's coming along nicely. I appreciate the support I've gotten along the way.

Thanks

ps: the 402/TH400 combo avgs 11.8 mpg!

Re: 2 yr anniversary!

That interior looks awesome!
There is so much to do on a Suburban, and compared to PU's the cost is 3 to 4 times greater.

Great looking Suburban, and keep up the good work - no matter how long it takes. (I have been restoring mine for the last 10+ years, due to money, life, work, and space).

Re: 2 yr anniversary!

Thanks all. I appreciate the support as usual. I bought my first 72 burb back in 1998 to make into a daily driver. It didn't happen, two years later I sold it off. About 4 years ago I bought my second burb (1969 this time) to make into a daily driver, it's sitting in the side yard for sale! I saw this one about 2 1/2 years ago and I made it this time. Thanks again.

Those bucket seats are actually out of a 1973 Blazer, I used 72 mounts (graciously provided to me by 67mach1), and the covers are 72 covers. The bucket seats did require extra padding, but turned out pretty good. I purchased all the covers and carpet from Tim Christian (Christian Classic Trucks). Floor mats are OEM out of a mid 90's suburban.

I want to try to get better mileage, thinking about a gear vendors unit or a 700R4.

Thanks again

Re: 2 yr anniversary!

Did you have to modify the buckets to accept the 71-72 covers. I have a line on a pair for $100. Could you have used the original seat brackets or did you have to change them? Thanks for the info.

Re: 2 yr anniversary!

The only mod to the bucket seats was adding additional padding. As far as the seat brackets, I honestly don't remember. I know I wanted to change out the passenger side for sure because I didn't want a chair that folded forward in my suburban. 67Mach1 was gracious enough to let me use his brackets so it was a no brainer.

Looks Great! Thanks for the props on the seat mounts, twice! You are getting much more use out of them then I ever could.

Re: 2 yr anniversary!

Congrats on two years!! Isn't it great?? I am at two years myself with mine as a daily driver. I wish mine looked as good as yours though, but with where I take it, it is probably better off being ugly. Good job on the mileage too!! 11.8 is great for a big block in one of these!!
