new "sport mirror" installed - looks great but...

I ordered 2 from the same place for my '71, but so far only the RH has showed up... anyway...

I got it installed, and what a major PITA it was. Anyway, it seems no matter how I turn this thing I don't have the proper viewing angle, as if the mirror won't turn in enough. I used the pre-existing factory drilled holes to mount it. Am I missing something completely obvious, or is that the nature of these things?

FWIW, this is on a 71 K20.

OOPS, meant to post this in the main forum. Wheres that delete button?
