Excited from Texas

Well, I aint the brightest star in the sky when it comes to these computers but I just found this site while on another site. Heck yeah, a site devoted to General Motors, thats right up my ally!! A little background on me I am a chevy truck man all my life, we're talking since birth literally, first one was a 1969 1/2 ton lwb wasn't a straight fender on her but she was a runner, then moved a 3/4 ton conversion van, then to an 84 s-10 which put me into the minitrucking scene for a while. I then re-discovered full size trucks so I obtained a '78 stepside (my baby) which was fun and I totally loved, but as most things dont last and wife and kids make decisions based on practicality, I had to let her go. Had a '96 GMC, and still have a '06 Z-71. Now I am working on a 49 3/4 ton. I have already swapped the body onto an S-10 chasis, installed Chevy's bread and butter motor, 700r4 tranny, rearend from a '77 firebird and am working on the body to get her ready for paint. So far I am having a blast with this one and if all goes right she will be driving in the next year (fingers crossed, time and money becoming a problem). I hope this site is not like the last one I joined, people over there think that since its been posted before then it can't or shouldn't be said (typed) again. Like I already said I am not the best on computers so searches usually turn up nothing or deffinetly not what I'm looking for and I promise to help with anything I can. So Hello from Texas.

I've been here a few years and don't recall anyone being bashed for asking any questions no matter how many times it's already been answered, It just keeps us up to speed so memory loss doesn't set in !

I don't think you'll find a better place or friendlier people to hang with and learn a trick or two......

Pretty much a P.O.S. but like I said before I'm beating her into submission and she's starting to show her true potential.

Clyde65-I can't make it to the meet and greet cause work gets in the way of the things I want to do and if I want to get this ol' girl back on the road I better go.

Re: Excited from Texas

Thank you kabwe but the space is running out quickly, there are three vehicles in there now, I guess I need to get rid of one of them so I can work. I wish I had your skills with metal.

Yes although for the last couple of months I've had to go out of town for work. I finally got the body completely mounted on the s-10 frame, I've got most of the rust and three layers of paint off the body, got the camero seats mounted, the s-10 steering column and brake pedal mounted, got the bed panels straigtend out, ready to start on the wood bed, mounted to radiator, got the running boards shortened and mounted and am working on the splash gaurds getting them shortend and welded back together, found some wheels and tires that I love. next on the list of things to do, get started on the doors, get the grill rechromed, ad the exhaust and figure out how im gonna get fuel to the motor. acually have a lot more than that but those are higher on the list than any other. I want to get this thing running by the end of the year but its not gonna be easy, work still getting in the way of life.
