Wink Who's got the rustiest 67-72?

A buddy and I were parts scrounging and what we came across was possibly the rustiest 67 i have ever seen. He pulled the chevrolet letters through hood with nuts still attached. The top looked like it was just lying on the cab with at least an inch rusted away all around the edge. THe rubber mat was all that was left of the floor. He kicked the tailgate out and the drivers bedside just fell off. I wish i had taken the camera.....so this got me thinking. Anyone out like to share what they think is rusty?

Most of the trucks i find around here are like that gmc. That 71(?) looks like the ones that are still on the road.

Re: Who's got the rustiest 67-72?

I remembered my 72 daily driver being super rusty and comparing to that first one but now that i finally found decent pictures of it i guess it was just the doors.

It started out as a dime size whole and now it's a mortgage sized hole:

Re: Who's got the rustiest 67-72?

I found a truck for sale locally to go check out for parts. $600. Turned out to be real low mileage, but it also spent its life on a 2 mile wide island. Sad. Couldnt find $600 worth of anything I could use. even figuring 200-300 in scrap value...

Re: Who's got the rustiest 67-72?

A couple of years back someone posted a pic of, I believe a two tone blue and white truck that there was hardly anything left of. It too was a California truck. I've looked for that pic for a while but can't find it, anyone remember it?

Re: Who's got the rustiest 67-72?

That one too much stuff posted looks as bad as that one I showed. Heck, looks like the axles and springs rusted away. I don't know where I got the picture I showed from or what the story was. I assume, like the blue & white one,it was a snow plow truck. If they set all year and don't get the salt washed out they get eaten alive. Parked over damp ground makes it 5x worse.
Here's that Medium Olive truck from CA. This is the worst "surface rust" I've ever seen:

What amazes me, is that the green and the white trucks both still look driven...or at least drivable!

Well, rusted sheet metal doesn't stop a truck from running.

Re: Who's got the rustiest 67-72?

I just love the way that drivers side headlight is hanging out by the pigtail....lmao...It makes the entire picture.

Maybe i'll fix mine to do that, just to piss off all those Hybrid drivers!

Re: Who's got the rustiest 67-72?

I wish I had pics, but when I rescued my 67 from the bone pile, the floor was gone on the passenger side, I mean it had enough metal for the seat to attach to and the rockers, but thats it. I pulled her out of the bone pile in Bozeman Montana put a new timing chain in her and drove it 400 miles to Idaho. My black lab sat on the seat the whole time looking at the road going by at his feet. He was not happy to be in that truck at all. The bed wood was all gone so he didnt want to ride back there either.
