Re: brake switch?

Hook the purple wire to the "to PCM" terminal of the brake switch.

This is why it's easier to leave the range sensor on the side of the transmission, it has switches that go to ground in park and neutral, and the NSS in older cars don't multi-task very well. But since you don't have it, and your harness is set up like an F-body LS1, you'll either have to just permanetly ground it (not the best option, but people do it), or put some kind of micro switches that will close in both ground and park, with one side wired to ground and the other side going to your PCM. Or, you could get away with using only one in the park position. Or, if you're feeling really ambitious, you can do this. http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversion...-question.html It works just like factory with only the original NSS.

Edit: as I was posting this, I remembered your truck isn't a 67-72. Some of the later trucks have a mechanical neutral safety switch, meaning that the key won't physically turn in any gear but park and neutral, it doesn't cut the electrical power to the starter solenoid. If this is how your column is, it will have a switch on the column, 2 wires will be for the back up lights, if it has another set, you could use them for your park/neutral switch. You'll have to check to be sure that they work that way on your year of truck, but I know that S-10's from at least '87-'94 are this way.

my truck already has a 4 pin switch, but I changed it to the new one anyway...it already has four wires hooked up to it, so do I just tie into that last wire?

I dont know what year truck you have...
The Pink wire will be the Ignition Hot...Leave it alone, Cut & splice onto the other wire. The polarity doesnt matter.

Re: brake switch?

From the diagrams I have The brown will be the power wire, The blue wire is the one you need to splice onto.

Verify power at the Brown wire with the key on.

Re: brake switch?

Any chance I could see how the switch is mounted? I'm trying to figure out how to fit it on an s10 brake pedal assembly in a '51.
