question for wood workers

the wife has me restoring an antique chest of drawers to use when our baby comes in september. It has been painted and I would like to strip the old paint and start fresh with new. what is the best way to do this without destroying it? is there a chemical or just sanding?

Thanks!
David

Re: question for wood workers

Hardware store should carry a selection of strippers. Use to be there was a gelled which clung great on sides and was good for paint. Just don't let it dry and don't rush it. Also was a more thin type which was good for washing down.
