How to remove front coils

I'm trying to get my coils out with no luck. I have removed the lower ball joint nut and shock. The lower arm isn't dropping. Any help and or tricks would be great. (I know the ball joint nut is on in the pic.)

Re: How to remove front coils

you have to take it apart at the upper ball joint and drop the lower a-arm and spindle/drum assembly down .....in order to get the lower a-arm off the spindle you have to turn the spindle and drum to get the tip of the lower arm out of the divot in the drum backing plate if that make sense(the divot in the drum wont allow the lower arm to drop) ....so in order to get the lower a-arm off you would still have to take the upper a-arm and ball joint off so just tighten the lower one back together and just take the top ball joint apart...

I usually put a jack under the lower control arm, and once everything is loose bring the jack down slowly releasing the pressure on the spring until its not sprung anymore.

Re: How to remove front coils

I did mine Thursday on My day off, jack the truck up and put the stands on frame rail behind front wheels, then put jack under control arm and remove the 2 u-bolts on inside of lower control arm and let jack down slowly. When You put it back together You should be able to see where the u-bolts were unless You paint them.

Yeah, do what Stony said. Much easier.

Re: How to remove front coils

if its not coming out . put the nut back on , just a few turns. then wack the area around where the ball joint is till you see it pop out. you wont hurt anything by hitting it. but make sure to have the nut on . you dont want that spring flying out. once it pops put the floor jack on the lower arm, and jack up then remove nut. and lower ,
