64 c10 short wheel base with no bids

I followed a 1964 c10 swb on ebay until the auction was over. I personally like the truck and considered bidding. Nobody bid on it so I didn't either because there's a lot I don't know about these trucks. I'd still kind of like to have it. I was just wondering if anybody here sees an obvious reason (or not so obvious) as to why this one wasn't sold?

This is my first post. Looks like a great board.

Re: 64 c10 short wheel base with no bids

I'm kinda in the same boat. I'm in the market for a 73-87 swb truck, but not sure what tell tales are on these trucks. Just don't want to buy a basket case and then I'm stuck with it. Hopefully someone on here with experience on purchasing these models can chime in with some help.

Not a bad looking truck, no pics of the bottom, leaves a lot of questions.
Poor description. For my taste it would need a lot of changes.

Re: 64 c10 short wheel base with no bids

only reason i saw was the 8k reserve. it solidifies what he wants for it, but people like to feel they are getting a deal and typically the reserves are set to high to allow people to bid. its a solid looking truck though and worth the $ in my opinion. its not my style w/the 20s, but a great looking truck. be nice to know more info on the build, when work performed, mileage....etc

wrong fender emblems, hate the rims and mirrors.

Overall, it looks like a very nice truck, I love the color for sure!

If it is just as clean down under that pretty paint, its worth what their asking IMO.

Re: 64 c10 short wheel base with no bids

I agree on the mirrors. I think the rear tail lights are actually old cab roof lights....

First off.....Welcome. I too am on the North Shore.

I think some of the turnoffs on the truck may be the wrong fender badges, wrong tail lights, mirror location, and to some the rims. Also, for that kind of price you would think that he would list more pictures, better pictures, more info etc. Some people are just not that good at listing things for sale. I see it all the time.

I am in communication with a guy now that I am trying to get a hood from. The guy has been the most difficult person to communicate with. If he didn't have a perfect hood and be so close to me I would have don't stopped even trying....but....I have not been able to find a good hood locally.

I didn't bid because I don't like stuff like chromed glove box doors. Somebody else said they didn't care for the 20" wheels. Another doesn't like the mirrors. Such is the risk when building your truck according to your own particular/peculiar likes. When it comes time to sell, the money and time invested ends up shrinking your potential buyer pool if others don't share your taste.
If you happen to dig what this guy did with his build, maybe you should have put in a bid. Generally speaking, buying a properly completed project is a great way to save money, as almost no-one gets out what they put in.
If you are new to these trucks, I suggest you browse around this site until you get a feel for what's happening and what to look for. Use the search feature for basic questions and just ask when you can't find an answer.
Oh yeah, welcome aboard and have fun!

Re: 64 c10 short wheel base with no bids

Is that a screwdriver being used for a turn signal stalk?

The bed appears crooked in the last photo.

Makes you wonder about the quality of the workmanship. Also don't care for the wheels, the late model steering wheel, and a few other details.

Re: 64 c10 short wheel base with no bids

personally I'd never bid on a truck I have not looked at in person or had someone I trust look at it.

Poor description, no mention of rust, body work needed/done. Paint covers a lot of sins. Without inspecting the normal rust prone areas first it would be a huge gamble at that price.

Re: 64 c10 short wheel base with no bids

When I bought my 64 it had 20 inch wheels and rubber band tires. I sold them right away and I had enough money to rebuild my brakes and buy new wheel and tires.

Re: 64 c10 short wheel base with no bids

I bought off ebay sight unseen and will NEVER do that again. If you are truly interested in the truck, find a member on here who lives near the truck and pay them to go look at it. I guarantee it would be money well spent.

I was afraid to bid without seeing it or knowing more about it.

He's he got his cell phone number on there give him a ring - or shoot him a text. Ask for some pictures of the underneath - maybe a video walk around of it... just a thought -
