It was probably done in the 70's or 80's. People do different things to their trucks.

Re: not my truck stole pic but why would u mess up good cab

A lot of things were done to the trucks before they were seen by the general public as anything worth saving. My burb has a patch in the roof where someone had cut in a sunroof.

Re: not my truck stole pic but why would u mess up good cab

These days people shave drip rails and shave/smooth firewalls,Install car dashes, and worse, which serves no function. People like me installed sunroofs for the same reasons you can get a modern vehicle from the factory with one. If the factory offers them, people must want them. Same reason we cut doors to listen to better stereos than offered from factory...which were mono and generally AM-only.

Re: not my truck stole pic but why would u mess up good cab

I like a sunroof.
I wouldn't cut a clean cab...but if I could use it to talk the price down on an otherwise nice truck....why not?

i dont think its ugly or anything. kind of different. I just dont see it as useful.
You have the smoking window, the rear glass and your normal windows. Oh and the foot vent.
Is there really a problem getting air into the cab?
hell mine even has a big 9x14 hole in the cab floor!!!

Re: not my truck stole pic but why would u mess up good cab

They are really nice to have driving through valleys, canyons, etc. You can look up without getting a crook in your neck. The sun feels good on the right day. That's why they make convertibles,t-tops,and sunroofs from the factory. The one I had could be removed. On a winter day you could blast the heat with the glass out,sun on you,and not a whole lot of wind coming in.

I drove this truck all over the country. In the mountains it was great to look up at the hillsides and trees. That was 77-82. I wouldn't do it now,but would buy a rustfree cab with the whole and put that same sunroof I still have in. I've been tempted to cut many roofs over the years (square body K/5s mostly),but so far I haven't been able to bring myself to it.

That is one nice lookin' MOPAR. My grampa had one just like it, except it was bone stock, and a light tan color.
