3 + 3 Dually inot 3 + 3 SRW?

I'm looking for a C20 or C30 3 + 3 square body (73-86) with single rear wheels. Seems like most of what is out there are duallys. Is it possible to remove the outer wheels and do something to the bed (replace it???) to convert a dually to single rear wheels?

yes it is possible I did a 2wd dually into a 4x4 single. have to get a bed change the front rotors. get a single wheel 14 bolt since the dually axle is a different width. may have to move the spring perches depending on what axle you get

ive actually seen people used a srw bed and use the drw dana 70 with single wheels. the wheels actually set about a .5 inch out from the fender rather than set a inch or two in with the 14 bolt and looked better. you can also if you want change the bedsides out a the drw bed if you need new metal as its hard to find a clean srw bed sometimes. you do need to change the front rotors like said above other wise your front will are going to be setting at a funny track width.

I don't need the dual rear wheels for anything I will be doing with it (as far as I know ). The real reason is that the dual wheels take up more space...especially when you are talking about driving through a garage door.

Sounds like this may take a skill set I do not have and may cost more than it is worth. Probably better off finding a srw to begin with (although they seem to be few and far between compared to drws, at least around here.)

SRW bed + aftermarket wheels with a backspacing that keeps the rear wheel tucked behind the fender line. No idea what backspace though. Tape measure will be your friend once you get a SRW bed in place.

Alex.

not really any skill can you turn a wrench. unbolt one bed bolt on other bed. unbolt dually set of wheels and the front rotors bolt on others. the only thing is setting the bed on the truck. you would need to paint it to match or have it painted though im sure unless you found your color and it was a good match. money prob would be nothing really if you trade or sell the dually bed.
