Van tilt conversion
Did a van tilt conversion to my 72 C-10. Not sure what year the column was from but it does not have column ignition so I am guessing 1972. I had the work done by a friend who has since moved. My problem is that the turn signals will not self cancel. They work fine but I need to switch them to the off position manually. I think he used the original turn signal switch from my stock column. Do I need to obtain a different switch for this van tilt or do I just have a faulty unit? Summit does carry a switch that they indicates will work on a 1972 tilt unit. Would the stock switches for the non-tilt truck column be different and that is why mine will not auto cancel? Any help appreciated.

Re: Van tilt conversion
It may be as simple as replacing one or both of the springs linked below. You should see them located on the turn signal switch. If they are there and intact you may need a new switch or cancelling cam.
I believe the keyless van tilts were used at least until 1979 and possibly into the early 80s. http://classicindustries.com/shop/truck/parts/?q=G0951 http://classicindustries.com/shop/truck/parts/?q=G0952 Last edited by FirstOwner69; 01-20-2015 at 05:41 PM. |

Re: Van tilt conversion
Do you have one of these under your steering wheel? It is a horn contact and canceling cam for you turn signals
