I am blown away by this truck. It looks perfect. I love everything about it.

If mine turns out half as nice as yours I would be happy.

Re: 56 GMC Aussie Style

I haven't updated for a while, not much to report really apart from the GMC getting some miles clocked up on it which has given me a chance to get picky about a couple of items starting with the brake booster that came with the firewall mount kit I purchased from POL, even though it saved me alot of work if I had my time again I would fabricate my own set up.

Out with the crap chinese & in with some locally made PBR quality. I had an 11" booster out of an early 80s GM Holden that I took apart to modifiy the mounting pattern from the existing one.

Re: 56 GMC Aussie Style

Is that a "WB" booster?
What master cylinder did you use?

Re: 56 GMC Aussie Style

Its out of a HZ Statesman. Master cylinder is Delco style which has the same bolt pattern of any pre 80s Holden master cyl.

Re: 56 GMC Aussie Style

Thanks.
Do you have an adjustable brake proportioning valve?

Re: 56 GMC Aussie Style

Nev, the prop valve i'm running is a Delco style Disc/Drum which is non adjustable, if your starting from scratch I'd be going with a complete WB or even XC-XE set up. These Master cylinders have the Prop Valve intergrated.
Front two pipes are direct L & RH wheels, one rear pipe goes straight to rear braking system.

Thanks.
I am tossing up between Hydroboost setup and Commodore booster / master cylinder.
I've bought a used Commodore booster/ master cylinder to mockup firewall for pedal etc. but I am interested in what others have used successfully (might save me some pain )

I drove the ol truck 140 miles to an annual hotrod camping weekend event just before Christmas. It went real nice however it struggled ride height wise with too much weight in the back.
I might have to look at some kind of leafspring air assist options??

Re: 56 GMC Aussie Style

Red, I would just build a trailer to pull for the extra weight. You can pull more than you can haul anyway.

By the way Your Truck is Bad AZZZZZ !

Nice truck there Red.... always liked the GMC front bumpers, reminds me of the old 50's Cadillac front ends....
