When They sold batches of trucks with specialised color combinations, they would slip them in, as a group among the other trucks comming down the line , and run them through., then resume normal assembly line.

Jim Wangers in his book "GloryDays" talks about this procedure implemented bt Pontiac several times in the 60's and Chevy too in the 70's.

It may not be a factory color. You might have to do one of thos colorgraphic spectrum analysis to get what your sfter.

Any other CD trucks out there with good paint

I like the red

I see alot of images of CD trucks of other era's on other websites. Try Goodling thier images?
Iīm pretty sure the Colors are non-GM Colors. Maybe the white ist the fronst white, but the blue is different.

Mine was painted afterwards, not at the factory. the firewall, the fender insides and parts where the bumpers get close to the body are still light blue. That is what it says in the glove box RPO label too. They must have painted it at the rescue service themselves. And after CD it went to the fire department with the red color, which was litteraly just painted over, they didnīt even paint the door jams.

Thanks for the tip on the book, Iīll check that out! Sounds interesting!

The paint on the door jambs (white/blue) ist still very good, that should help match the Colors to their original tone.

Donīt get me wrong, the red is nice, I do like that too, but I like the fact of putting it back to the first service color.

I have already looked for other CD trucks and found tons of pictures. But they did change the blue from the 50 to later trucks. It was a lighter blue in the 50īs and a little darker blue in the 60īs by what I found and compared to my 68.
