Re: Bad day for daughters 67

I am sorry to hear of your daughters crash/collision. Good to hear she is not hurt any worse than she is. Everything else in life is replaceable.
I am sure you are right and that the insurance company will total the vehicle. Unless you have a $25,000 collector vehicle policy on it which I doubt, the cost to repair will far exceed standard vehicle valuation. However, once an agreed upon price is made ask to "buy the carcass".
That cab is still a nice piece. 67 small window cabs are not growing on trees. I am sure you will rob a ton of parts (smalls especially) off of it over the coming years.
That's what I would do anyhow.

Re: Bad day for daughters 67

Not sure how well you can see the pics (some people look at the forum on their tiny phone screens), but that cab is totaled. The back of the cab is smashed into the door, you can see the whole back is pushed in, and there's a huge wrinkle of metal behind the PS door window frame and the whole area behind the PS door has been crushed in as well.

Can it be repaired? Sure, but it will likely need the back half of another cab... so not really worth it.

You Sir are correct. You are standing next to it inspecting it in person while we are viewing it long distance on a small screen. You have a perspective on it that we cannot come close to.

I would still try to salvage it. Just the roof top could be grafted onto another truck that had a rusty roof and Wala, you have a small window truck.
But,,,, that's why I am driving one 2006 truck, building a 68, and own 12 trucks total currently counting parts trucks. I hate to throw away something I might use down the road.

Re: Bad day for daughters 67

frames twisted, cabs shot to hell, beds no good.... and you said the drive lines buckled? im glad shes ok. that must have been a helluva hit. your ( her ) truck is the perfect example of why i begged my daughter to drive my 67 to school. (then i found out she liked the punched out 350) Shes 20 now and is waiting for me to finish my second 67. I think though that if i build her her own truck ill be doing a 71-72 with a straight six
i hope your girls feeling better.

Nope... I can just see the pics really well (not my truck or kid)

Re: Bad day for daughters 67

Call Battlefield storage and talk to Ron. He has a 67 that already has cab all rebuilt and painted just needs the bed finished. He is on Sunset about a block west of Kansas.

Re: Bad day for daughters 67

Whenever the dust settles I would still check on salvage cost(if you have room). Yes it's hurt, badly, but it still looks like a solid small window cab to me and I would just about guarantee I could save it to use on another build. Look at the cab I started my build with. Guys had been looking at this truck for over a year and passing because of the hacked up hole in the cab back and roof. Bout 3 days labor total and it was good to go. All I am saying is guys spend tons of hours of labor and time cutting out rust and fixing much lesser cabs.
Heck, I've got a door, fender, and a chassis, that would love to have that cab sitting on it. Lot's of guys on here (much closer to you) would love to have it. I know that's not what's important right now, your daughter is, as it should be, but whenever you get to that point,

Re: Bad day for daughters 67

aw jeeze! that suxques.

Glad she's ok.

dont sign off on anything untill your sure.

I too had an accident, a drunk, walked away with a check for 10k. 22 years later I still feel the neck and back pain. The problem is now that if I have, and I have, had addition problems with my back. I must prove that its not directly or indirectly related to that settled claim. no disability from the VA, no disability from SS.

be carefull there.
