CPP Steering Column - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Just thought I would throw this out there to see if anyone has any knowledge of the "New" CPP steering columns. I read previously that the China built steering columns including CPP were unsafe. I read the full New Zealand report and several threads on different forums. I spoke with CPP today as I'm ready to order a column and they said the previous issues have been corrected. Any truth to this or anyone that has purchased a CPP column in the past year. Not really interested in hearing about the old columns as I think that would be beating the horse to death.

I would pass on most cpp stuff too many complaints on this site, go with a name brand. just my .02 cents.

Honestly, I have to disagree with you. I've purchased and installed their Big Brake Kit and Hydroboost for my Chevelle. Car brakes excellent. I think most issues come from shipping and installation errors. Anyway, would like to hear from anyone that's ran their "improved" columns.

Aftermarket Steering column Ididit or Flaming River. Both have solid reputations across the net on all forums. The actual mechanical pieces inside are From the same plant that makes the GM columns. Yes they cost quite a bit more but you don't hear complaints about them.

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
