Auto down window splice kit anyone?

I have a couple of these made up-they are relay powered auto down splice kits for 1981-up pickups with factory power windows. You simply mount the 2-gang relay bank and solid state module to the door she'll, then about 1' from your window switch connector just cut all the window leads and use the supplied terminals/connectors to add this upgrade-it includes replacement window connectors at the switches. $120 shipped buys 1 kit to do both doors.

I can make a kit for a CC-I build them color coded so that's no problem-I can put together a set of 4 for a crew.

Great. I have to do some repair work to one door for the window tracks, figured while I am in there might as well upgrade to the relays and add auto down.

What do you need from me to get one ordered. I can paypal you today to get it going...

Re: Auto down window splice kit anyone?

gmachinz, did you change something on your kits? I swear the one I purchased last year (and recently installed) only had the auto down module...

It was a fantastic addition to the truck, here's a video I took after install with freshly lubed regulator, rollers, and siliconed the tracks.

Re: Auto down window splice kit anyone?

Well there are differences from some years, but I'm always looking to expand or improve upon my kits when I can. From working on 82-92 Camaro and Firebird power window kits, I found a way to also incorporate auto up too so I modified that design to work with the squarebody trucks. It really depends on the switch style and motor design-then I provide a splice kit or, if desired all NEW harnesses with the modern features built in-keeping with a factory GM "appearance".

Innovation is good. Very cool. I remember when I asked about auto up as well it required another module at each door.

My post was vague, what I mean was I don't recall there being any relays on my harness with the auto down module, just the module itself. It was the weather pack connection style module, the one you currently picture with the relays looks different.

Re: Auto down window splice kit anyone?

If using the auto down kit on 1980-older trucks it requires converting to relays so the window circuit is normally grounded at rest. 1981-up are already setup as needed to splice the module directly in-the solid state module itself acts as a load relay too so for 81-up trucks you don't have to have relays AND the module. Some people request both anyway tho. There isn't a whole lot of difference between 77-80 and 81-87 window circuits but the small difference that does exist is night/day with regards to adding thebauto down/up feature as the solid state modules can only be wired a certain way into the window circuit.

So now I'm totally puzzled. The ad is for 81 up and includes relays but the note indicates that 81 up does not need relays because the circuit is already there, and all that is needed is to splice in the current sensing auto down module.

Given the age of the wiring and lack of speed in my 87's windows, I was already looking at doing the relay mod. So this kit would give me the relays and auto down and new wiring to the switch, and will work with my 87, correct?

Would this also be a drop in to retrofit early trucks that did not have power windows, assuming an 81 up motor was used?

I'm sorry I added confusion to the thread, I should've PMed gmachinz with my questions. I installed his kit with autodown in an '87 with factory PW and the above video shows the results. The difference is phenomenal, the kit was very high quality, he uses all new components, even the flat board that plugs into the back of the switch was new, I didn't even know you could get those darned things.

That is all correct. Some people like to have relays anyway so that you can have an external keyfob for example that can be used to have a ground output signal trigger the relay which would work independent from the solid-state module. The fastest possible window speed combination is to use a relay upgrade and have that power the solid state module directly-again, its overkill but is very effective. For some cost is an issue so there are many ways to incorporate a kit into what you have.

To keep from adding a lot of confusion to the thread you can PM me too with specific questions if you want. Once you get everything it really makes sense how it all works together.
