For anyone parting out a Sub

I need the metal backing pieces behind the taillamp and backup lamp assemblies. This requires the cutting in this section of the body panel. Can you help?

Does anyone know if these parts are interchangeable between the pickup/blazer/suburban?

I have a 72 burb that I am beginning to part. Do you have access to a digital camera so that you can take a pic of the areas you need? I'm not 100% positive mine are good either but it's worth a shot. The gas filler area is already spoken for as are the inside wheel tubs and all of the doors & glass.

Here is a pic with an approximation of what I need. I bought this same patch panel but it does not include the taillamp/backup lamp backing pieces. The red outline is probably the minimum amount that would need to be cut out of a donor panel.

Are you sure those don't come out? They do in the pickups...

I don't have a 'burb to cut for you, but now I have to go look at mine to see how it is...

I'm actually not sure if they come out or not. The truck is at a body shop right now and this is the only thing that is holding it up! The body guy seemed to think (by looking at the other side) that the backing pieces are at least tack welded in place. Does anyone know for sure?

Are you talking about the silver looking pieces that the bulbs go into(refelectors)? If so, I know I at least have the pass side and both backup lights. The drivers side is in there but it may be rotted at the top as it is loose in the body...

I will check on them tommorrow for you...

should be able to cut those spot welds out of your old fillers and use them in the new patches. They do spot weld in. I wish I hadn't just thrown mine away. I put Avalanche tails in mine and threw the whole corners out for scrap. Sorry

Yeah, the problem is that the body shop didn't realize they needed the backing pieces until they had already junked the old ones. That's why I'm looking...

Bagged, what I need isn't the lamp assembly itself, but the backing section behind the taillamp assembly and backup assembly. Some might call it a pocket--it is a separate piece that is spot welded in.

Hey bagged91, are the door locks any good on the sub you are going to part out? I could use 3 good locks that are keyed alike.
