Loose Axle?

Just pulled the rear wheels off my old mans 69 and when i pulled the drums off i heard a weird clunk. I grabbed the axle plate and i can push it back and forth about half an inch. Ay ideas what might have let go in the rear end?

Well, if its a 1/2 ton truck the c clip axles do have some end play.....1/2" would be excessive tho... you might look for worn c clips, center pin , & check the clip groove on the axle for wear. they will have approx 1/8" end play. Good luck, crazyL one more thought....side bearings on the carrier...

Don't think there's anything wrong with it.

I wish there wasn't anything wrong with it, I'm the one that's going to have to fix it. But theres a definite loud clunk when you move the axle that's gonna have to disappear before the trucks back on the road.
