Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
Was just getting ready to say all 71-72 K’s had standard power brakes.

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
Ok new question:
Until what year and month could you order a 67-72 truck without a heater/defroster? |

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
Maybe the power brakes in '70 had something to do with other options? I was thinking that power brakes were standard on 3/4 and 1T trucks; I seem to recall reading that here, in a different thread. Coupled with the fact that power brakes are not listed on my SPID but the truck had them. The Z81 Custom Camper RPO rolls up a whole bunch of other options:
Z60 CUSTOM – (INCLUDES SEAT TRIM, SUNSHADE LIGHTER, HUB CAPS, REAR WINDOW GLASS, HEADLINING, DUAL HORNS, COAT HOOKS AND HORN BLOWING RING) Z61 CUSTOM APPEARANCE – (INCLUDES CHROME TRIM, RAD. GRILLE, W/S MLDG., CAB TRIM PANEL, STEERING WHEEL AND HORN RING) V60 FOOT TIRE PUMP V37 CHROME BUMPER G60 AUXILIARY REAR SPRINGS F59 FRONT STABILIZER F51 FRONT AND REAR SHOCK ABSORBER D29 WEST COAST MIRROR – Jr. C42 HEATER-DELUXE Now, my SPID lists stainless camper mirrors, which I guess superseded the D29 mirrors. I got this information from Jeff Lampe's list- http://outintheshop.com/options.html I wonder where the alleged V60 Foot Tire Pump ever went? I've been around this truck for over 40 years and never saw that pump. There's no windshield trim molding, either. I feel cheated. I'll have to console myself with the free truck.

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
Well, maybe I need to start asking questions that I know a definitive answer to...I was thinking January 1968 based on this post from SS Tim. But that is the only source I can provide...

I just guessed the date is was required federally by FMVSS 103 I work with DOT, NHTSA, FMVSS, etc. regulations daily as they apply to our on road fleet but I'm not really familiar with that much history of when individual OEMs began compliance.. for instance, I regularly have to explain to drivers why their truck is red tagged for b/o heater core or blower motor, both required for defroster system because it's required by FMVSS standard no 103 (windshield defrosting systems) but I have no idea when Freightliner, Peterbilt, Mack, Kenworth, GM, Ford, etc. initiated compliance.. the reg is searchable online and rather wordy but basically it was ratified 3 February 1967 and implemented 25 December 1968.. so the above was just my SWAG

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
Not the side mirrors. I am not sure of the material but it makes something plain more shiny. It's simply described as "Trim" in the documentation I have. This is a CST-only feature, not part of the Custom level or other separate option.

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner! As far as I can tell, optioning for the CST package was the only way to get pedal trim. I'm not sure if this is true for the 67's or 69-72 CST or Cheyenne trucks.

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
Actually, I think you could probably equip a 68 Custom pretty much to look like a CST as they are pretty similar except for carpet and a chrome front bumper which either could be ordered separately. The seat materials and padding were also different.

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
I don't think brakes mattered. For what ever reason you had to have power brakes to get a bed side tool box. I've had a 69 and 70 Longhorn that had drum brakes and tool box. I miss that 69.

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
The blower on my 72 C20 takes #10 screws which are #8 on my 71 C10. Original screws, and pretty useless.

Re: Somewhat useless Truck trivia...
Where's SSTim now? Look at Post #23
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=551365 It doesn't say K trucks couldn't be ordered with it. Tim didn't exclude K trucks. Intriguing.

I’m a fan! Mine is definitely swapped. Wonder if some browsing thru the spid picture thread might turn up a K with the tool/stowage box on the spid.
