Engine Harness 1969 c10

So, if the oil pressure is mechanical, with a copper oil line from the Block to the back of the oil pressure gauge, why does my new engine harness have a oil pressure (Blue wire / spaded w/cover on the end) for an oil pressure switch that im assuming goes on the passenger side of the block?

Trucks with the 3 hole dash cluster had a light bulb for the low oil pressure warning.
