Help , another door alignment question

1966 C10
PO had welded rockers, cab corners, a&b pillars, not a very good job
doors are out of alignment
driver wont latch at all
passenger will latch but lifts a little

ive checked with another 1966 C10, got cab measurements and ive got another set of doors, so i can verify measurements

Question is, if the cab supports and bushings are wore or bad, will it make it do this

I can weld in new supports and install bushings first if this is what needs done

What adjustments have you tried to make? Hinges, latches, and do the hinges have any play in them? Door alignment can drive you crazy with all of the factors involved.

When I was adjusting my doors, I had to adjust them to fit the opening first, then adjust the latch components to get the door to close properly. If your door hinge pins are worn out, you'll never be able to get the doors to line up properly

i bought new hinges after trying to change pins and bushings, ive tried to take the door and cab side latches out, still rubs on b pillar, does not really fit in the opening, almost no clearance in the windshield area and almost 1/2 in rear of cab

If you could add some pictures, that would help us help you.

If the cab mount bushings and the supports that sit on them were not repaired or replaced before the rocker and floor work was done, it's possible that the cab moved around enough to cause the issues you are having.

That sounds like the door needs to be moved back in the opening, so you would need to loosen the hinges on the cab side and slide them to the rear

Looks like the rear of the door needs to come up so that the body lines will match. You can achieve that by moving the upper hinge slightly to the front of the truck and the lower hinge slightly to the rear. Adjust one, snug it, then adjust the other. Don't loosen both at the same time when trying to make an adjustment like that.

Just going from the pictures, it looks like you might be having the issue of the front of the door making contact with the door jamb before the rear part of the door. You might need to adjust the bottom hinge to the outside of the truck and possibly pull the upper to the inside of the cab.

It took me several hours to line up my doors, and I haven't replaced any of the floors or rockers yet. Patience and perseverance is key here. I'm confident that you can get it done

Cold here next couple days till i get to try to adjust again

i have got a few measurements from 2 different cabs
might be helpful for anyone looking
lol, never thought there would be that much difference from truck to truck

drip rail to top of rocker sill inside / 491/2 to 50

top of door across cab/ 24 to 241/8
bottom of window across cab /381/4

body seam under window across, middle of door / 41 to 411/4

bottom of door across cab 405/8 to 411/4

mine is 497/8 and 491/2 drip rail to sill
24 across top of door
381/4 bottom of window
41 across middle of door
41 across bottom of door

so , its not very far off,

im going to try the door hinges again, just a small adjustment at a time

My humble Opinion, the Door needs to be higher, the Gaps at the Screen post and back post and roof look too big. Pushing it higher reduces the Gap, giving you more Space for the inner rocker.

We had to add metal to one of my doors to make the gaps correct. I don't know what happens along the way, maybe someone swapped doors who knows. But it does happen. I agree, I like that video the best.

Hey

good day, after work, had a little time, got the door adjusted so it actually closes now and the gaps are ok, adult beverage probably helped

next step is changing the doors after i fix rust on them, probably do the small drill bit in a coupleplaces on the hinges to keep alignment on the cab side, i can adjust door in and out after install

Thanks for all the help, still some tweaking to do but alot happier with it

That's looking better, but the rear of the door still needs to come up some so that your body lines will carry between the door and the cab. If you put the fender on, the body line at the front of the door will probably be a smidge too high. Keep working with it, you'll get there!
